Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®)

Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) is a specialized approach designed for healthcare providers, offering a post-graduate system of analysis and treatment. This chiropractic care system was introduced over 40 years ago by Dr. Donald Harrison, DC, MSE, Ph.D. Prior to its development, most chiropractors adhered to traditional adjustment techniques focused on aligning individual vertebrae relative to one another. However, these methods often yielded limited success in achieving measurable realignment on X-rays, and the symptom relief provided by this "segmental" approach was typically short-lived. CBP® represents a significant advancement in chiropractic care by addressing these challenges more effectively.

Dr. Harrison, who held a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Applied Mathematics, utilized his expertise to develop a science-based approach to posture and spinal corrective care. He pioneered a system involving specific "Mirror-Image" adjustments, spinal traction, and corrective exercises, all designed to realign the spine and improve overall posture. At the time, many chiropractic techniques were rooted in the belief that correcting a single misaligned vertebra was sufficient. This innovative approach initially faced skepticism, but the remarkable results achieved by practitioners quickly garnered attention, leading to the widespread adoption of Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) in chiropractic colleges.

Since its introduction in the 1980s, CBP® has evolved into the most extensively researched named technique in chiropractic care. With around 300 peer-reviewed studies, including 15 randomized clinical trials (RCTs), validating its effectiveness, CBP® has become the benchmark for corrective chiropractic treatment.

Precise Spinal Adjustments

While many types of spinal adjustments are effective in enhancing range of motion and alleviating pain, few techniques have been proven to significantly alter spinal alignment—until the development of the CBP® Technique. At CBP Precision Spine Center, we employ a blend of traditional chiropractic adjustments that provide temporary relief and improve mobility. Additionally, we integrate specialized Mirror-Image® adjustment methods, uniquely designed and scientifically validated to correct spinal alignment and posture. This approach not only helps maintain a healthy spinal position but also minimizes the likelihood of pain and stiffness recurring, offering you a hopeful and optimistic future of spinal health.

Corrective Exercises

Chiropractic Biophysics® (CBP®) incorporates specialized corrective exercises designed to stabilize the spine in proper alignment. These exercises focus on strengthening the muscles necessary to maintain this alignment. The process begins with foundational Mirror-Image® exercises to initiate correction, and as patients progress, we gradually introduce tailored exercises and activities that are more specific and, at times, more challenging to enhance further and stabilize proper spinal alignment. This gradual approach ensures that patients can progress at their own pace, feeling patient and comfortable with the process.

Corrective Traction

At CBP Precision Spine Center, our CBP®-Certified Doctors of Chiropractic are highly trained in delivering safe and effective traction techniques to help realign the spine toward its ideal position. Traction gently stretches the spine, allowing the supporting ligaments to adapt and facilitate proper alignment. Progress in spinal correction is carefully monitored using follow-up X-rays to measure and verify improvements. Our centers are equipped with various traction devices, each of which can be customized to address an individual’s specific spinal misalignment. When correcting the spine, a tailored approach is essential—one-size-fits-all solutions won’t suffice.

Remarkable Results with CBP® Technique

The outcomes achieved through the CBP® Technique are truly exceptional! Many individuals who have sought help from various practitioners for their spinal issues often report results they never thought possible. Recent research on corrective chiropractic care highlights that CBP® offers longer-lasting pain relief than traditional methods and enhances neurological function. If you feel like you’ve tried everything without success, it may be time to give CBP® a chance.
